Frequently Asked Questions
What material are these headlight covers made from?
Our Headlight Eyes decals are made from a perforated vinyl that will allow light to pass through
Will the decals affect how much light my headlights put out?
Light will still pass through the decals light output will be reduced on dim headlights.
Can headlight vinyl cause condensation inside the lens?
Condensation inside a headlight assembly is typically caused by compromised seals or vents in the housing itself, not by vinyl applied to the exterior surface. That said, if your housing seals are already worn, any modification to airflow around the lens could be a contributing factor. Inspect your headlight housing condition before installation.
Will the vinyl damage my headlight lens from heat?
Headlight lenses can generate significant heat, particularly with halogen bulbs. Prolonged exposure to high heat may cause adhesive residue to bond more firmly to the lens over time. We recommend using LED bulbs, which run cooler, and monitoring the lens during the first few days after installation. Always follow the application instructions included with your decal.
How do I remove the decals, and will they leave residue?
To remove, apply gentle heat with a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from a corner. On older or weathered lenses, some adhesive transfer may still occur; in that case, a plastic-safe adhesive remover (such as Goo Gone) applied with a soft cloth will typically clear remaining residue. Avoid abrasive tools that can scratch the lens.
Are tinted or blacked-out headlight covers street legal?
Vehicle modification regulations vary significantly by state, province, and country. Many jurisdictions have rules governing minimum headlight output, allowable tint levels, and inspection standards. It is your responsibility to verify that any modification complies with the laws in your area before driving on public roads. We do not make legal guarantees, and we recommend checking with your state's DMV or a local inspection station if you have questions about compliance.
